This is a set of static pages. No accounts, no comments, no newsletter, no contact form — so there is nothing here asking you for anything.

Collected by us: nothing

We do not ask for your name, address or email, and there is no database behind this site that could store one. Email us and we obviously have your address and your message; both are used to reply and nothing else.

Recorded by the host

As on essentially every web server, the hosting provider keeps access logs: IP address, browser string, page requested, timestamp. Ordinary operational records, used for security and diagnostics.

Advertising

Pages may show advertising through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, Google included, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites.

• Turn off personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings.
• Opt out of a wider set of vendors at aboutads.info/choices.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see which guides people actually find useful. Both use cookies or similar technology and report in aggregate. See Google's privacy policy and Microsoft's privacy statement.

Blocking any of it

Every major browser can block or clear cookies in its settings, and ad blockers work here without breaking anything. The guides are plain HTML and read perfectly with cookies and JavaScript switched off entirely.

Children

This site is written for a general adult audience, is not directed at children under 13, and does not knowingly collect anything from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to have it deleted, or to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. For anything Google or Microsoft collected through advertising and analytics, the opt-out links above reach those companies directly, which is faster than going through us.
